Mjelde’s season ended by knee injury

Chelsea Women defender Maren Mjelde will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Norway international, 31, was stretchered off during the 6-0 thrashing of Bristol City in the Women’s League Cup final win.

She was hurt in a collision with City’s Aimee Palmer.

The injury is not as serious as was initially feared but will require surgery.
