Chelsea Ladies bowed out of the Continental Cup with a 1-0 defeat at Birmingham.

Jo Potter’s free-kick early in the second half was enough to clinch a quarter-final victory for her side.

Millie Bright [pictured] and Laura Coombs went close for the visitors but they were unable to find an equaliser.

It meant Emma Hayes’ team missed out on a place in the last four – but their focus is very much on the league.

They are top of Women’s Super League One with two matches left to play, the first of which is away to Liverpool Ladies on Saturday, 26 September.
