Schade scores twice in Brentford draw

Kevin Schade scored both goals for Brentford as they drew on the south coast.

Schade put the visitors ahead and then equalised after Bournemouth had turned the game around with goals from Justin Kluivert and Marcus Tavernier.

Brentford, still unbeaten this season, and having now drawn three games in a row, were on top for much of the first half, and Igor Thiago missed an early chance for them when he failed to connect with a header from Jaidon Anthony’s cross.

But Schade made no mistake, scoring with a downward header from Yehor Yarmoliuk’s cross.

Bournemouth hit back quickly, though, and were level within four minutes.

Rayan missed a sitter, blasting the loose ball over the bar after a save by Bees keeper Caoimhín Kelleher, just before Kluivert did superbly to score with a low left-footed strike despite being off-balance when receiving the ball from Evanilson.

And the Cherries went ahead early in the second half, with Tavernier slotting into the far corner after also being set up by Evanilson.

But this time it was Brentford who responded with an equaliser four minutes after going behind.

It came courtesy of a howler by Dorde Petrovic, who gave the ball straight to Schade, and the German forward lifted the ball over the former Chelsea keeper and into the net.

Kelleher then produced saves to deny Tavernier and Tyler Adams.

And in stoppage time, Brentford had a major let-off when Ben Gannon-Doak’s deflected shot hit the post.
