Rosler hails players after Brentford win

Overjoyed Brentford manager Uwe Rosler hailed his players after their dramatic comeback against Swindon.

Having stuttered in recent weeks, they looked to be heading for a third consecutive defeat after going behind at Griffin Park.

But they stormed back in the second half to win 2-1 and move above the Robins into third place.

It was a major boost to a promotion bid which appeared to be in danger of petering out.

“I’m just so happy. The way we fought back was more like us,” Rosler declared.

Saunders levelled from the penalty spot.

“What Swindon did to us in the first half was impressive. I thought ‘they can’t go at that tempo for 90 minutes’ and they fell off in the second half.

“They couldn’t play with the same intensity and that allowed us to get on top of them. But credit to Swindon, who are the best team we have played this season.

“In the last month things have gone against us and when we have conceded the first goal we’ve never looked like coming back, but that was more like us.

“We’ve lacked a bit of confidence in the last month and to see that fighting spirit today was fantastic.”

Rosler’s second-half substitutes Sam Saunders and Bradley Wright-Phillips changed the course of the match.

Wright-Phillips’ pass led to Donaldson being fouled, with Saunders equalising with the resulting penalty, before Donaldson netted the winner.

Rosler added: “Sam and Bradley lifted us and Clayton terrorised them.

“We not only won against Swindon, the way we won means the players can now get a lot of confidence. Today’s a day when we can be really happy and proud of our team.

“To be outplayed in the first half and come back and win gave me the most pleasure and I think everybody in our camp needed that – to come back against a top team and beat them.

“We had eight players under the age of 22, so you can see the potential the team has. Good players learn quickly – and we have good players.”
