Rosler hails striker after Bees triumph

Uwe Rosler hailed Saido Berahino after the on-loan striker starred in Brentford’s 4-0 crushing of Carlisle.

Berahino scored twice in an impressive home debut and was a constant menace to the Cumbrians defence.

And Bees boss Rosler was full of praise for the teenager, who recently arrived at Griffin Park from West Brom.

“For an 18-year-old you can’t ask for much more than that,” Rosler declared.

“He was very good. We knew he was a good finisher and he showed that – and I thought his movement was superb.

“He is only young and has not been with us for long, but he understood what we wanted from him tactically.

“What also impresses me about him is the way he uses his body. He’s not the biggest but is able to bump defenders and use his body to get the ball.”

The victory left Brentford in ninth place and was another indication that their poor home form may be a thing of the past.

It was the perfect follow-up to the recent 5-2 thrashing of Wycombe and their display at both ends of the pitch pleased Rosler.

“It was a good performance and I’m very pleased with the clean sheet,” he said. “The players were brilliantly offensive-minded and we forced a mistake for the first goal.

“I was very pleased that we didn’t then repeat the mistake we made at Colchester, when we sat back to defend the lead and conceded two goals.

“It was possibly the best defending we have produced while we were also attacking. We still wanted to attack even when we were 4-0 up, but we were still defensively solid and alert.

“It was important to follow up the impressive display against Wycombe, when we scored five goals.

“It’s nine goals in two home matches now and today’s a day to be happy and to praise the players.”
