Rosler explains decision to take off Dean

Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has explained his decision to take Harlee Dean off at half-time against Hartlepool.

Dean, whose own goal gifted the visitors a first-half equaliser, was replaced by Leon Legge.

“They were getting in behind our left centre-back [Dean] time and time again,” said Rosler.

“I wasn’t sure about Harlee so I brought on Leon Legge to get more stability at the back and I think he lived up to that.

“You have to remember it is only Harlee’s first full season at this level.”

Paul Hayes scored his first goals for the club to put Brentford into a 2-1 lead but Tony Craig scored a 90th-minute own goal to give Pools a point.

And Rosler added: “We thought we had done enough so it is disappointing not to get over the line.

“We were more comfortable in the second half but we are not managing games properly with one minute or two minutes to go.

“Tony Craig had a good game overall. I don’t blame him at all. He was under so much pressure and an own goal like this can happen.”
