Transfer gossip: Speculation over Benrahma fee

Transfer speculation involving Brentford in Sunday’s newspapers…

West Ham and Brentford making progress in negotiations over Said Benrahma has prompted speculation over how much the winger could cost.

West London Sport reported on Saturday that the two clubs appear to have moved closer to an agreement, potentially paving the way for Benrahma to join the Hammers.

Crystal Palace are also interested in Benrahma but are reluctant to pay the asking price – Brentford have been looking for around £30m.

But West Ham seem to have made some headway in discussions with the Bees and there could be a deal ahead of next week’s transfer deadline.

The Mail on Sunday declare that West Ham are “confident” of completing an £18m deal to sign the Algerian winger.

The east London club have been pursuing Benrahma for some time, but the Daily Telegraph claim West Ham have “gone back” for him after missing out on Bournemouth’s Josh King – and that the fee is likely to be £17m.

Meanwhile, the Daily Star Sunday claim Fulham and Newcastle are also in the running to sign Benrahma.
