‘Important talk’ held after Bees defeat

Brentford manager Uwe Rosler kept his players in the dressing room for more than an hour-and-a-half following their defeat at Stevenage.

The Bees’ 2-1 reverse against a side that had not won in six league games was their fourth defeat in five matches.

It has been a disappointing start to the season for last term’s beaten play-off finalists and Rosler felt it necessary to clear the air.

“We have had a very important talk in the dressing room,” he revealed.

“It was needed – I wanted to get some answers and the team was very open and honest about things.

“I was very honest too, and so were my staff, and it was a good talk. Everyone in that dressing room now knows what is asked of them – and that includes the staff and myself.”

Rosler was involved in heated exchanges with Brentford’s on-loan centre-back Martin Taylor during a first half in which Stevenage came from behind by capitalising on defensive mix-ups.

The Bees have been poor at the back so far this season and Rosler knows they must improve.

“We started the game very well. We made chances and it was the way we wanted to attack,” he said.

“But individual mistakes gave them a goal out of nothing. We didn’t continue in the same way we started the game.

“It’s very difficult to assess. Sometimes you think things are 100% clear to the players and then you find out they’re not.

“We shouldn’t have lost that game. We should have won.”
