Frank wants midfielders to ‘take responsibility’ as troubled start continues

Thomas Frank called on his goal-shy midfield to “step up and take responsibility” after Brentford’s home defeat against Middlesbrough.

The result made it five defeats in six matches since Frank took over as Bees boss.

Frank was at least boosted by the lively returns from the bench of the fit-again Emiliano Marcondes and Josh Dasilva.

“When we have Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins fit we have enough quality to score goals, but in the meantime we need the rest of the boys to help out,” he said.

“Every team goes through spells like this and that is why we have more than 11 players.

“You saw in the final 20 minutes the difference Emiliano and Josh made, but we do need everyone to step up and take responsibility on front of goal.

“They are working hard and showing big heart and if we keep showing that then I am not in any doubt that we will get out of this spell.”
