Bees boss praises referee after win

Brentford boss Mark Warburton praised referee Graham Salisbury for refusing to be swayed by an intimidating home crowd in the 1-0 win at Leeds United.

The Bees moved up to fourth in the Championship table courtesy of Alex Pritchard’s second-half strike.

But the hosts had a couple of noisy penalty appeals rejected before Warburton’s side went ahead.

“The referee came under enormous pressure from the crowd,” Warburton said. “But if you look back at the game without any sound they were not penalties.

“It was a very good three points. In the first half we were off the pace and didn’t get close enough to the opposition, but we stepped it up in the second and created a lot of chances.”

Brentford are now five points clear of Norwich, who are one place outside the play-off places.

Warburton added: “People say we are direct and hard-working but we are better than that.

“As long as we are little old Brentford, that works for us.”
