Brentford seal move for defender Barbet

Brentford have completed the signing of French centre-back Yoann Barbet on a four-year deal.

The fee for the 22-year-old, who played for Chamois Niortais in France’s second tier, is believed to be just over £500,000.

Bees head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen said: “Yoann really caught the eye and after discussions we decided to make his signing one of our priorities.

“I’m very happy that he has chosen to come to Brentford and I look forward to working with him.”

A former France Under-18 international, Barbet came through the youth ranks at Bordeaux before being released in 2014.

He is Brentford’s third signing of the summer after midfielders Akaki Gogia and Ryan Williams.
