Brentford boss wants loan signings

Dean Smith

Brentford want to sign a defensive midfielder and a winger before the loan window shuts on Thursday.

The Bees signed Everton striker Leandro Rodriguez on a month’s loan last week and head coach Dean Smith believes they need more reinforcements as they battle against relegation.

“We are still looking to bring more people in,” said Smith.

“Wide areas is one we’ve been a bit light in. Defensive midfield as well, although Alan McCormack has come back and done well.

“We just need some strength and steel. There’s more options in the loan market in these areas than there were centre-forwards.”

Meanwhile, Scott Hogan got more minutes under his belt as Brentford’s Under-21s were beaten 3-1 by Bolton on Monday.
