Brentford target Ajeti looks set to complete West Ham move

West Ham look set to sign Switzerland striker Albian Ajeti from FC Basel.

Ajeti, 22, was targeted by Brentford as a replacement for Neal Maupay, who has joined Brighton.

But capturing Ajeti never looked an easy task for the Bees.

He has three years left on his contract, has been hoping a Premier League club will come in for him, and his wage demands deterred West Brom, who recently attempted to persuade him to join them.

And West Ham have decided that they will look to snap up Ajeti ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.

Brentford have been lining up other targets, including Amiens’ Iranian striker Saman Ghoddos and Charlton’s Lyle Taylor – although an approach for the latter has been rejected.
