Transfer gossip: Blades linked with Watkins

Transfer speculation in Sunday’s newspapers involving the area’s clubs….

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder reportedly wants Brentford forward Ollie Watkins.

Watkins, who recently signed a new long-term contract, this week told West London Sport he was happy at Griffin Park despite a proposed summer move to Crystal Palace not materialising.

West London Sport previously revealed interest in Watkins from Palace, Southampton and Bournemouth.

Palace were unable to agreed a fee with the Bees but The Sun on Sunday say Sheffield United are ready to offer £15m for him.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have again been linked with Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell.

Manchester City are also said to be keen on the England international and were linked with him during the summer.

The Sun on Sunday claim the two clubs are “leading the race” to sign Chilwell and that he could leave Leicester at the end of the season, when Chelsea’s transfer ban will cease.

The same newspaper has previously linked Chilwell with a potential move to Stamford Bridge, declaring that Blues boss Frank Lampard is an admirer of the player and sees him as a possible long-term left-back for Chelsea.

The Sun on Sunday now claim Leicester could get £50m for him and are looking for a replacement.

And the Mail on Sunday claim Christian Pulisic could consider his future in January if he is still being overlooked by Lampard.

Pulisic has failed to make an impact since arriving from Borussia Dortmund in the summer and his first-team prospects currently look bleak.
