Defender Fredrick set to make Brentford debut
Benjamin Fredrick is set to make his first-team debut for Brentford in their Carabao Cup tie at Reading on Tuesday – but fellow Bees youngster Kaye Furo has been ruled out and faces a spell on the sidelines.
Nigeria international centre-back Fredrick, 21, was signed in 2024 and spent time on loan at Belgian Pro League side FCV Dender last season.
Keith Andrews explained: “We decided not to play him in the B team game on Sunday to make sure he was in the right place to be available for our game against Reading. I anticipate he’ll be involved.”
Striker Furo was in line to also play against the Royals.
But boss Andrews revealed on Monday afternoon that the 19-year-old had undergone an operation after being injured in training.
