Brentford contact police after rugby ball kicked into stadium during Liverpool game
Brentford are working with police after a rugby ball was kicked towards the pitch from a nearby rooftop during Saturday’s Premier League defeat by Liverpool.
The club described the incident as “dangerous and potentially very harmful”.
Footage shared on social media shows a man standing on top of a building close to the Gtech Community Stadium and kicking the ball in the direction of the pitch, while people around him laugh and cheer.
A separate video, filmed inside the ground, shows a member of staff removing the ball from the pitch while the match carried on.
A Brentford statement said: “The matter has been referred to the police and the club is supporting the relevant authorities in their investigation to help identify those responsible and take appropriate action, which may result in criminal prosecution.
“The matchday safety of fans, staff, players and officials is of utmost importance, and the club will support all efforts to ensure action is taken.”
