Zanka signs new deal with Brentford

Mathias ‘Zanka’ Jorgensen has penned a new one-year deal with Brentford, along with the option of a further 12 months.

The 32-year-old has been training with Brentford since the expiration of his last deal in June, with the view to earning another one if he could prove his fitness.

He made ten appearances in all competitions for the Bees last season but missed much of the campaign through injury, including a five-month spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

The central defender then struggled with an adductor issue which caused him to miss the end of the season.

“We always wanted to extend Zanka’s contract and are happy that we have now done so,” Brentford boss Thomas Frank said.

“He did very well for us last season in the games he played and was fantastic around the group as an experienced player.”
