Dean signs new Brentford contract

Brentford defender Harlee Dean has signed a two-year contract extension, while Nico Yennaris has re-signed until 2019.

The centre-back’s deal was due to expire at the end of the season but he is now under contract at Griffin Park until 2018.

“I am really pleased that Harlee has committed himself to the club,” head coach Dean Smith told Brentford’s website.

“It gives us all a great boost as he has been an integral part of the success on the playing field over the last couple of years.”

Dean, 24, has made 185 appearances for the Bees since he arrived from Southampton in November 2011, initially on loan.

“We can all forget very quickly that he is still a young player who has further scope for improvement,” Smith added.

“He has shown that he wants to develop further both as a player and as a leader. I am looking forward to working with him for the foreseeable future.”

Full-back Yennaris, 22, was signed from Arsenal in January 2014.
