Deal agreed for Sawyers to join West Brom

Brentford and West Bromwich Albion have agreed a fee for Romaine Sawyers.

The midfielder, 27, is set to rejoin Albion – where he started his career – for around £3m following talks between the two clubs.

Celtic were also interested in Sawyers and had £2m bid rejected.

He is due to have a medical on Friday before completing his move to the Midlands.

The Birmingham-born Sawyers has a year left on his contract at Griffin Park.

He has made 117 Championship appearances for the Bees since being signed from Walsall three years ago.

  • Romaine has been our lynch-pin player and we have no one of his quality to take on the controlling role he performs in midfield. West Brom have acquired a player with considerable ability to dictate the flow of games and he will strengthen their push for Premiership status. Big loss for us at Brentford. We will all be sad to lose him.

  • Class player, great vision keeps the football well always finds a pass, he also has a lot to prove at Albion, good signing

  • Well done Dowling. You do take time we don't have but later is better than never.

Now prove you deserve your position and buy, Yes buy, Mason Holgate.

  • Good signing if it happens what we need in midfield ,now go and get a decent striker job done
