Colin rejects Bees deal and says his future is unclear

Brentford right-back Maxime Colin has rejected a new contract offer and says his future beyond this summer looks uncertain.

The Bees have signed a new right-back in Henrik Dalsgaard and Colin, 25, admits he does not know what the club’s intentions are for him.

He does, however, expect to resume talks over a new deal when he returns for pre-season training in July.

He said: “I knew one month or so ago that they were looking for a new right-back.

“I can’t say the reason they signed him. The question is for the directors of football. They wanted a new right-back.

“I can’t say that if they bring in a right-back it’s because they want me to leave or they expect me to leave. I don’t know.

“We were talking about a new contract but I haven’t signed anything yet. They offered me something but I didn’t accept. We are still talking but not much at the moment.

“I am sure we will talk more when I come back. We will see what happens then, now we have three right-backs with Josh Clarke, the new one and myself.

“I still have two years remaining on my contract so it’s not like I am free in the summer. We will see what will happen in this market.

“The gaffer is happy with me, how I play and I feel really good at Brentford. I’m happy here.”

Colin signed for the Bees from Anderlecht in 2015.
