Brentford are due a £500,000 payment from Burnley after James Tarkowski made his England debut against Italy.

The clause was one of several agreed as part of the deal which took the defender from Griffin Park to Burnley in 2016.

That deal could net Brentford a total of £1m in extra payments – they will be in line for another £500,000 if Tarkoswki starts another international and £250,000 for an appearance as a substitute.

Another former Brentford centre-back, Alfie Mawson, now with Swansea City, was named among England’s substitutes for the friendly at Wembley.
