Brentford unable to see off Bury

Brentford’s run without a league win was stretched to four matches despite them twice taking the lead in the second half.

Harry Forrester put them ahead, heading past keeper Trevor Carson on 52 minutes, but Tom Soares broke clear at the other end and rifled in an equaliser.

Marcello Trotta then fired in from an acute angle but Bury hit back again, with Soares crossing for Nicky Ajose to flick home.

It was hoped a recent trip to Dubai would recharge Brentford’s batteries after an intense period of games, but they looked sluggish in a dull first half.

Forrester finally put them ahead when he latched onto Shaleum Logan’s deep cross but Brentford’s back four went to sleep as Soares was put through by Carl Regan.

And they were caught napping again as Soares pulled wide and crossed for Ajose to make it 2-2 after on-loan Fulham striker Trotta had netted his fifth Bees goal.
