Brentford hoping Watkins will be back for Leeds game

Brentford are hoping Ollie Watkins will be fit for their trip to Leeds on Saturday.

The forward is a doubt because of a toe injury that kept him out of Tuesday’s draw at home to Birmingham.

But Dean Smith appears to be cautiously optimistic that Watkins will be available for the visit to Elland Road.

The Bees boss said: “I’m hopeful. He’s got some antibiotics in him and hopefully it will calm down.

“He had an injection in his big toe on Saturday to get him out there. It was a bit angry (on Tuesday) so we couldn’t risk him. It was too painful to get a boot on.”
