Bees still without Pinnock for Southampton game

Brentford’s Ethan Pinnock and Sergi Canos will remain sidelined for Saturday’s game against Southampton.

Both are struggling with hamstring problems, with Pinnock having missed the past two games and Canos having missed the past three.

“It’s just one game too early. I hope that both could be available for Everton,” boss Thomas Frank said.

Saman Ghoddos is also not fit enough to return, having injured his ankle in the 0-0 draw with Tottenham, while Frank Onyeka is unlikely to return this season.

“Saman is out of the boot and running,” Frank explained. “He’s not available for the weekend that is what I know.

“Frank is also training again, not with the team, but with the physio and sports performance department.”

The Bees face a Southampton side that are winless in three matches but have one of the world’s best free-kick takers in James Ward-Prowse.

And Frank says his team must try to minimise the impact he can have from set-pieces if they are to pick up a positive result.

“We are aware and we prepared for it,” Frank added.

“Hopefully we don’t make the fouls around the box in the sweet-spot positions. There are definitely some areas where he is more efficient than others.

“I think he is remarkable. I said it last time and I will keep that message. I think maybe right now he is potentially the best free-kick taker in the world and I understand why the top-six clubs are looking at him.”
