Brentford defender Arthur joins Celtic

Celtic have signed Brentford defender Benjamin Arthur on loan.

The 20-year-old centre-back will spend the rest of the season with the Scottish giants.

He has made three first-team appearances for the Bees, all in cup competitions, and made his England Under-20 debut earlier his season.

Celtic manager Martin O’Neill told the club’s website: “I’m really happy that we have brought Benjamin to the club, and I think he can be a very important addition to our squad during the remainder of the season.

“He is an excellent player, with real attributes, good height, strength and speed and I know he can only help and improve the squad across the number of games which we will face over the next few months.”

Also on deadline day, Brentford midfielder Frank Onyeka joined Championship leaders Coventry.
