Brentford complete signing of Anthony from Burnley

Brentford have completed the signing of forward Jaidon Anthony from Burnley in a deal worth up to £17m.

The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at the Gtech Community Stadium, with Brentford holding an option to extend the deal by a further 12 months.

The Bees will pay an initial £15m for Anthony, who found the net nine times and provided four assists in 38 games for Burnley last season as they were relegated from the Premier League.

Brentford head coach Keith Andrews believes the former Arsenal academy player is a perfect fit for his squad.

“We’ve been aware of Jaidon’s journey for a long, long time and have always admired him from afar,” Andrews said.

“He did really well last season, which is difficult in a team that got relegated.

“After meeting him, it became very evident that he’d fit into the culture of the club and add to the squad. He still has so much more room for growth and improvement.”

Anthony, who previously had spells at Bournemouth and Leeds United, becomes the second major summer arrival for Brentford, following the signing of defender Jannik Schuster from Austrian side RB Salzburg.
