Brentford boss predicts ‘enthralling’ derby against Chelsea
Keith Andrews expects an entertaining contest when Brentford face Chelsea.
The Bees head coach has seen his side make an unbeaten start to the season and morale is high ahead of Friday’s derby.
“It’ll be an entertaining game,” Andrews said. “Both teams are in a pretty good place and playing some good football.
“There will be a lot of talented players on show for both sides. It’ll be an enthralling derby.”
Mathias Jensen, Nathan Collins, Sepp van den Berg and Josh Dasilva will miss the game but could be back soon after the international break.
Young striker Kaye Furo had surgery on his foot on Monday and is “in a good place”, Andrews said.
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso, meanwhile, admits his side will face a big test.
Brentford are renowned for their threat from set-pieces, long throws and fast counter-attacks, but Alonso feels those strengths only tell part of the story.
“Yes they do that very well, but not just that,” Alonso said. “They do other things, not just the transition, not just the set-pieces.
“I think it is a team, a club that has developed the project and the game very well. They are very complete in many aspects, with or without the ball.
“And playing there, you see the numbers; they have great strength playing at home. So it is going to be a big challenge.
