Brentford take a point in stalemate at Bournemouth
Bournemouth 0
Brentford 0Brentford rode their luck and picked up a point against Bournemouth, who hit the woodwork twice.
The Bees, already without the sidelined Aaron Hickey, lost another full-back when Rico Henry went off with what looked like a hamstring injury midway through the first half.
They had a major let-off before the interval when Ryan Christie played a one-two with Evanilson and took the ball past keeper Caoimhin Kelleher only for him to then take a heavy touch lose the opportunity.
Keith Andrews’ side never really got going in an attacking sense and came under more pressure in the second half.
Marcus Tavernier fired against the post and appeared to be clipped by Michael Kayode as he shaped to shoot, but a VAR check upheld the decision not to award Bournemouth a penalty.
Tavernier then shot against the corner of the bar following a Cherries counter-attack.
And there was another lucky escape for Brentford in stoppage time, when Eli Junior Kroupi dragged wide from point-blank range.
