Bournemouth eyeing Bees centre-back Mepham

Bournemouth are monitoring Brentford youngster Chris Mepham.

The Premier League club watched Mepham play for the Bees’ B team and have continued to show an interest since his promotion to the senior side. Cherries boss Eddie Howe recently saw him in action at Griffin Park.

Centre-back Mepham, 20, has made 12 first-team appearances for Brentford this term, including seven starts in the Championship.

The Hammersmith-born Wales Under-21 international signed a new long-term contract in September.

He was on Chelsea’s books prior to joining Brentford at the age of 14.

  • With all due respects to Bournemouth (and I have a lot of it) there is now such a small quality gap between Championship teams and those in the lower reaches of the Premiership that I can't see a move would be beneficial for Chris in this case... Carry on learning your trade and go up with the Bees!

  • Let Bournemouth sign the player but agree that he remains with Brentford til the end of the season.
He fulfils his potential and helps the club at the same time trying to achieve the impossible.
Club have never denied that they would cash in if the player is progressing
