Bees still confident, says Bentley

Goalkeeper Dan Bentley insists confidence in the Brentford camp remains high despite the opening-day defeat at Sheffield United.

A number of signings have been made over the summer and Bentley believes the Bees are capable of being the Championship’s surprise package.

“The media might focus on Middlesbrough and Hull City, but that’s fine by us, we’ll quietly go about our business,” he said.

“The confidence, belief and togetherness we have in this Brentford squad will go a long way.

“The way that the owner, manager and directors of football work at this club is to identify young, hungry players that want to go and achieve big things. We’re all hungry and drive each other on.

“When you look at the whole package we have a great chance to stamp our authority on the division.

“We’ll quietly go about our business and see where it takes us at the end of the season.”

Brentford are next in action on Tuesday evening, away to AFC Wimbledon in the first round of the League Cup.

Meanwhile, left-back Tom Field is set to join Bradford City on loan.
