Bees sign Bennett on loan from Watford

Brentford have signed Watford defender Dale Bennett on a month’s loan after learning that Karleigh Osborne could be sidelined for some time.

Osborne limped off after a crunching 50-50 challenge during the midweek home defeat against Stevenage and it has since been revealed he suffered ligament damage in his foot.

His condition is being assessed and it is not yet known how long he will be out of action for.

The player’s injury is a setback for the Bees, who have gone five matches without a win and are also without injured centre-back Leon Legge.

Bennett, who made 12 first-team appearances for Watford last season, is primarily a central defender but can also operate at right-back. He will be in the squad for Brentford’s home match against struggling Chesterfield on Saturday.

The 21-year-old is the second player this term to join the club on loan from the Hornets following Adam Thompson’s spell at Griffin Park, which ended this week.
