Bees look stylish in win at Wycombe

Wycombe 1 Brentford 4

Clayton Donaldson, Kevin O’Connor and summer signing Stuart Dallas scored for Brentford as they rounded off their pre-season campaign with another comfortable win.

Boss Uwe Rosler will be encouraged by their performance, the highlight of which was a lovely sequence of passes that led to his team’s third goal.

The Bees’ starting line-up included former Liverpool and Portsmouth defender Gregory Vignal, who is having a trial at the club.

But the 31-year-old left-back lasted only 35 minutes before going off with what appeared to be a hamstring problem.

Donaldson opened the scoring when he collected Jonathan Douglas’ pass and slotted past keeper Nikki Bull, who had earlier produced fine saves to deny Douglas and Farid El Alagui.

Striker El Alagui then had another chance to put the Bees ahead but blazed wide from the rebound after Bull had parried Harry Forrester’s shot.

Once in front, Brentford continued to dominate and were two up at the break courtesy of Wycombe defender Grant Basey, who headed into his own net under minimal pressure from Donaldson.

Brentford defender Harlee Dean followed suit 13 minutes into the second half, diverting the ball past keeper Simon Moore to gift Wycombe a goal.

But Rosler’s side hit back with a fine move which culminated in Dallas tucking away Myles Weston’s left-wing cross.

And O’Connor pounced after a defensive mix-up to fire home the fourth from close range.
