Bees keep Watford at bay in friendly

Brentford 0 Watford 0

Brentford held off Championship side Watford to register their third clean sheet in four pre-season matches.

The Bees, who last week beat Stoke City, went close to scoring when on-loan Celtic midfielder Niall McGinn sent a right-footed shot narrowly wide.

But Richard Lee, playing against his former club, was the busier goalkeeper throughout.

Lee produced two first-half saves to deny Watford striker Marvin Sordell, and later kept out a close-range effort from Troy Deeney.

Former Brentford and QPR man Gavin Mahon featured as a second-half substitute for the Hornets, who missed a great chance when Prince Buaben blazed over from eight yards.
