Bees discuss new deal for Diagouraga

Brentford have opened talks with Toumani Diagouraga over a new contract.

The midfielder, 27, signed from Peterborough in 2010 and his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

Diagouraga was loaned out to League Two Portsmouth last term but has impressed in his 13 appearances in the Championship.

Manager Mark Warburton said: “We’re delighted with Toumani. He knows he’s delivered a level of performance but his challenge was to be more consistent and he’s risen to that.

“His agent has chatted with [sporting director] Frank McParland and talks have started. What I want to make sure of is that Toumani concentrates on the football and we let the rest go on around him.”

Diagouraga has made more than 150 appearances in all competitions for Brentford, scoring seven goals.
