Bees beaten by second-half Cardiff fightback

Cardiff 2 Brentford 1

Cardiff hit back in the second half to end Brentford’s winning run after Sergio Canos had put the visitors ahead.

The Bees looked to be on course for a fourth consecutive victory when Canos finished coolly after being teed up by Konstantin Kerschbaumer’s back-heel.

Earlier, Yoann Barbet was denied by a superb save from Cardiff keeper Allan McGregor.

Dean Smith’s side looked comfortable before Sean Morrison equalised a couple of minutes after the interval, and Peter Whittingham netted the Bluebirds’ winner with 14 minutes remaining.

Morrison rose to head home a corner from Whittingham, whose right-footed strike on the half-volley gave his team the points.
