Barbet set for move to QPR

QPR are set to sign out-of-contract Brentford defender Yoann Barbet.

The Frenchman, 26, is primarily a central defender but can also play at left-back. He spent four years with the Bees, making 107 league appearances.

Barbet was among several players who recently left Brentford following the end of their contracts at Griffin Park.

He has been linked with several clubs, including Aston Villa, but has agreed a move to Loftus Road and is expected to sign a three-year deal.

QPR’s former Brentford boss Mark Warburton has been keen to sign at least one defender with significant Championship experience this summer, with Joel Lynch and Jake Bidwell having been released – 12 months after Nedum Onuoha and Jack Robinson departed.

  • Another shrewd move by MW - onwards and upwards, a couple of decent strikers and we will be buzzing.

  • Amazing player and it was so sad to see him go !! But QPR ??? What a shocking decision, if it's true ! I will loose all respect for him. I suppose he supported them as a kid!!!!!!
