Andrews happy with Brentford’s performance

Keith Andrews was happy with Brentford’s performance at Manchester United despite the 2-1 defeat.

First-half goals from Casemiro and Benjamin Sesko put the hosts in control at Old Trafford.

Mathias Jensen scored in the 87th minute to give the Bees hope, but they were unable to find an equaliser.

After going behind, Brentford responded strongly but Igor Thiago was unable to take three chances to equalise before the second goal.

Bees head coach Andrews said: “We started to take control of the ball a bit better, got to grips with the game, the occasion, and I thought we were in a good place.

“The second goal was really disappointing – the timing and where we were in the game.

“But, overall, the performance of the players, the bravery, was really impressive. I was really happy with how we performed overall.”

The defeat was another blow for Brentford in their pursuit of a European place.

They were recently in contention for a Champions League spot, but six matches without a win – they drew five in a row before their visit to the north west – has left them ninth in the table, 10 points behind fifth–placed Aston Villa and two behind Brighton in sixth.
