Cairney signs new Fulham contract
Tom Cairney has signed a new one-year contract at Fulham.
The club captain, who this week turned 35, is a huge favourite among fans and is set for a 12th season at Craven Cottage, having been signed in 2015.
Cairney’s contract was due to expire this summer and Ipswich were keen to sign him during this month’s transfer window.
But Fulham wanted him to stay and he is still seen as an integral part of the squad, having made 14 Premier League appearances already this season.
“This is my club. This is where I want to be,” said Cairney.
“As long as I keep playing, affecting games, and helping the club on and off the pitch, then I’ll stay as long as possible.
“I said last year that I wanted to stay for a long time, and this year’s no different.
“I’ve loved being here. I’ve loved playing here. It’s a special thing, my longevity here and the things we’ve done together, and are still doing together.”
