Stephan predicts ‘calm’ transfer window for QPR – but there could be departures
Julien Stephan says he expects a “very calm” transfer window for QPR.
The Rangers head coach does not believe major changes are needed to the squad when the window reopens next month.
“To be honest, I don’t really like the January transfer window,” he admitted.
“I think when you start with a group, a squad, I like to continue with the same players.
“So let’s see what happens, but probably it will be very calm.”
Stephan indicated that departures are more likely, with a number of fringe players having found their game time limited so far this season.
He explained: “Of course sometimes you can have some adaptation, and if two or three players are not very happy with their playing time you can find a solution.
“For me it’s a question of players who are not happy with their playing time more than to bring some new players.
“We need to be aware of course, and if we have one possibility or opportunity or two, let’s see, but I want to stay focused on my players as I really enjoy working with them and want to continue working with them until the end of the season.
“I’m not the kind of manager to say we need three or four players or need four or five players. No. I’m okay with my players and focused with them.
“It’s always the same thing when you have the transfer window in January and you have to do some adaptation in your squad.
“Some players when they don’t play a lot, or don’t play enough in their mind, they want to find something. At all clubs it is always the same.
“I’m very happy with the squad but sometimes players want to play more and the market in January can help them find a solution to play more.”
Stephan recently insisted that Rangers have no plans to send teenage left-back Esquerdinha out on loan.
