Rangers winger’s season could be over

QPR winger Matt Phillips could miss the rest of the season.

Phillips suffered an ankle injury during Rangers’ 3-3 draw against Burnley on Saturday and the club are unsure when he will be fit to return.

“I wouldn’t know about timescale. It looks quite long term,” admitted R’s boss Harry Redknapp.

“We’d hope to get him back [this season]. I wouldn’t know whether we will or not. He’s got a few problems with his ankle and is struggling at the moment.”

Phillips’ injury is a blow for Rangers, who are already without top scorer Charlie Austin.

Redknapp says Austin, who had shoulder surgery this week, is also likely to miss the rest of the campaign.

“It’s a blow for us, losing Charlie and Matt Phillips. It’s up to the other players who come into the team now,” Redknapp added.
