QPR boss confirms Borysiuk injury

QPR: Ariel Boysiuk

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has confirmed that QPR’s summer signing Ariel Borysiuk will miss the start of the season and is expected to be sidelined for around six weeks.

The Polish midfielder, 24, has aggravated an ankle problem he had been nursing.

It means Borysiuk will have to wait for his debut following his recent move from Legia Warsaw.

Rangers boss Hasselbaink said: “It’s something we can do nothing about. He twisted his ankle. It is what it is.

“He’s a strong boy, but yes it looks like he is going to be out for six weeks.”

Cousins debut

Another summer signing, Jordan Cousins, made his QPR debut in a 1-1 draw at Northampton Town on Tuesday evening.

Nasser El Khayati scored for the visitors in the friendly at Sixfields, where Rangers keeper Alex Smithies returned to action after injury.

“It was frustrating at times because they got 11 men behind the ball and we had to break them down,” Hasselbaink said.

“We were very slow, especially in the first half. But we are in pre-season. The second half was a lot better.

“We needed to play with a higher tempo. They (Northampton) were not going to play with tempo or take the initiative.

“So for us it was a test and a good test.”
