Mackie and Perch to be recalled for QPR ‘send-off’

Ian Holloway plans to recall Jamie Mackie and James Perch to the QPR side now the club are safe from relegation.

The 4-2 win over Sheffield Wednesday left Rangers with 53 points.

And manager Holloway wants to give Mackie and Perch a send-off before they leave the club. Both players will be released when their contacts finish at the end of the season.

Mackie, who is in his second spell at Loftus Road, has been working his way back to fitness after back surgery and has not played for Rangers since December.

Perch has also spent much of the season on the sidelines, having suffered a broken kneecap last August.

“I’m pleased that win equals the 53 we got last year,” Holloway said.

“We’ve got 12 points left to play for and I want to smash things through.

“It also enables me, now I believe we’re totally safe, to give two lads a fantastic send-off for us.

“I’m going to have to wish them well (when they leave), because these young lads at QPR are coming through.

“They’ve taken it (being released) so well and they’re going to get contracts with other clubs.

“We’ve got a lot of senior people here and these young lads have almost pushed them out.

“But I want to thank them for what they’ve done for us and I want our fans to thank them, because they’ve been marvelous people for us.”
