QPR youngsters lose in play-off final

QPR’s Under-21 side were beaten 1-0 by Crewe at Loftus Road in the Professional Development League Two play-off final.

Rangers goalkeeper Joe Lumley did well to deny Billy Waters and then Brad Inman in the first half as Steve Gallen’s team struggled.

And Max Clayton scored the game’s only goal – a half-volley after being found by Ajay Leitch-Smith four minutes after the interval.

Michael Petrasso came close for Rangers, but his fizzing effort went just wide of the post, before Jordan Gibbons and Reece Grego-Cox fired over the Crewe bar.

Waters hit the post with 10 minutes to go and and Leitch-Smith fired wired in what was a fairly comfortable victory for the visitors.
