Terry flies out to join Chelsea squad

John Terry has flown to New York to join the Chelsea squad on their pre-season visit to the United States.

The Blues, who beat Seattle Sounders on Wednesday, face former boss Carlo Ancelotti’s Paris St Germain at Yankee Stadium this weekend.

Terry was given an extended break because of his involvement in Euro 2012 and has been in the spotlight because of his recent trial.

He was cleared of racially abusing QPR’s Anton Ferdinand, but there has been speculation that both players could be punished by the FA for their foul-mouthed exchange during last October’s derby at Loftus Road.

“I’ve spoken to John and he’s okay,” said Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo.

“He’ll be joining us and now we want to move on and let him concentrate on his football.”
