Chelsea will face Drogba’s Galatasaray
Chelsea will face Didier Drogba’s Galatasaray in the knockout stage of the Champions League.
The first leg of the last-16 tie will be played in Turkey in the third or fourth week of February – the date has yet to be confirmed.
And Blues legend Drogba is sure to receive a hero’s welcome on his return to Stamford Bridge for the second leg in March.
Drogba, hero of Chelsea’s 2012 Champions League triumph, also won three Premier League titles, four FA Cups and two League Cups during his time in SW6 – and scored nine goals in as many cup finals.
He netted a total of 157 goals in 341 appearances, making him the club’s fourth all-time highest scorer, and his 34 goals in European competition is a Chelsea record.
After his side completed the group stage with a 1-0 win against Steaua Bucharest last week, manager Jose Mourinho said he hoped Chelsea drew Galatasary in the next round so that Drogba could return to the Bridge.
