AC Milan confirm interest in Chelsea duo

AC Milan have confirmed they have made an approach to Chelsea for Fernando Torres.

The Italian club are also interested in Blues midfielder Marko van Ginkel and are looking to take both players on loan.

Torres would replace Mario Balotelli, who this week completed a move to Liverpool.

“We are in the last stages of the market and we will see if we are able to acquire an important forward,” said AC Milan administrator Adriano Galliani.

“Torres is certainly an important forward and we will see if we can sign him or another player.

“Van Ginkel? It’s possible. We have written to Chelsea and are awaiting a response. We are optimistic.”

Torres, 30, is currently third-choice striker at Stamford Bridge, while Van Ginkel, 21, has recovered from a long-term knee injury but his also well down the pecking order.
