Jota’s future in doubt with bid for Bees star expected

Jota did not feature in Brentford’s pre-season friendly at Aldershot on Friday as a bid for the Spaniard from a Premier League club is believed to be imminent.

West London Sport recently revealed that Everton, West Ham and Newcastle are interested in the 25-year-old, who is under contract until next year.

Promoted Huddersfield have since also shown an interest in Jota, who was outstanding after returning from a loan spell at Spanish club Eibar in January, scoring 12 goals in 27 appearances.

He joined Brentford from Celta Vigo in 2014 and was unsettled in London before an 18-month loan deal was agreed with Eibar in January last year.

Jota returned to Griffin Park six months early and his excellent performances have attracted the attention of top-flight clubs.

  • Jota must stay, he owes us another year for the sympathetic way we treated him when he was having family issues in Spain
