Bees draw with Southampton after Forster blunder

New signings Ollie Watkins, Kamo Mokotjo and Neal Maupay made their debuts for Brentford as they drew 2-2 with Southampton in a pre-season friendly.

South African midfielder Mokotjo started the game at Griffin Park, where Watkins and Maupay came on as second-half substitutes. Fellow recent signing Henrik Dalsgaard also featured.

Lasse Vibe put the hosts ahead in the first half with a simple tap in after being teed up by Sergi Canos.

And, after former QPR striker Charlie Austin had netted twice, Josh Clarke scored a late equaliser for the Bees courtesy of an extraordinary error by keeper Fraser Forster.

Austin slotted home following a mix-up between John Egan and Romaine Sawyers, and then fired into the roof of the net after being found by Sam McQueen’s left-wing cross.

With nine minutes remaining, Clarke sent in a cross from the left and Forster inexplicably let the ball squirm through his hands and into the net.
