Mauricio Pochettino says he is likely to rest Harry Kane for Wednesday’s London derby at Wembley against West Ham in the EFL Cup.

Kane was holding his hamstring as he was substituted late on during the 4-1 demolition of Liverpool at Wembley, in which he scored two more goals to take his tally to 13 for the season.

But Spurs boss Pochettino said: “He was just tired. After Madrid and playing again, in the end. it was normal.

“Maybe I will rest him against West Ham. We have ahead many games. Wednesday, then Manchester United, then Real Madrid again and then Crystal Palace

“It’s important to know that he played two international games as well. He is so professional but he is not a machine. But it was another fantastic performance from him.

“I am so happy with the effort of the whole team. After Madrid, to be ready again for a big game was fantastic.

“I am so pleased for the team and for our fans because we are starting to change the feeling here at Wembley; starting to feel it is our home, which is so important for the rest of the season.”
