Retiring Kennedy heads Quins departures

Harlequins forward Nick Kennedy has retired from rugby to become academy director at London Irish.

The 32-year-old lock, who won seven caps for England, joined Quins from Toulon last summer but is now returning to the club where he spent the vast majority of his 13-year playing career.

He will move to the Madejski Stadium alongside Quins legend Tom Guest, whose summer switch to Irish was announced in February.

Sam Smith and Maurie Fa’asavalu have also played their last games for Quins, having already agreed moves to Worcester and French club Oyonnax respectively.

Former England winger Paul Sackey and centre Tim Molenaar, who joined on short-term deals earlier in the campaign, have left the club, while New Zealander Nick Mayhew has also been released. On-loan hooker Max Crumpton has returned to Saracens.
